Lottery sellers in Spain worried about privatisation

Congress last month approved an opening up of the state lotteries in Spain

Lottery sellers in Spain are protesting at what they consider is a back-door privatisation of their business. As the world famous Gordo Christmas Lottery approaches, queues can be seen at most of the lottery administration offices where tickets can be purchased, but that could all change.

The Government is reported to be considering opening up part of the National Lottery to the private sector, which would mean that ticket selling machines could be seen in commercial and other centres.

Britain promises to investigate the target practice incident off Gibraltar

The Spanish Guardia Civil claims it interrupted the Royal Navy firing on a buoy in the colours of the Spanish flag

The British Government has given Spain the promise that a full investigation will be carried out into the incident in the Stait off Gibraltar on Tuesday which allegedly saw the Royal Navy using a buoy in the colours of the Spanish flag being used for target practice.

Most of the families were flown to the islands by the Spanish Air Force, and the Captain of the vessel says he will not sail again

The families of the Alakrana’s eight Galician crew members have travelled to the Seychelles where they have been reunited with their relatives as the boat finally made shore after the 47 days held in captivity by Somali pirates.
