ANDALUCIA THERE'S ONLY ONE ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN
Andalucía has so many sides and facets that visitors can find anything they
want. Because there's only one Andalucía. This is the main message of the new
advertising campaign from the Andalucian Tourism Board. It is its variety
which makes this region unique. The campaign shows us the most emblematic
buildings and landscapes of Andalucía such as the Alhambra and the Córdoba
mosque, the beauty of the its beaches, such as those in Cádiz and the unspoilt
beaches of Cabo de Gata in Almería. At the same time, names and faces of
anonymous people, Spaniards and foreigners, Andalucians or tourists enjoying
art of the region, the beautiful inland villages and the exquisite cuisine of
the land. A thousand different beauty spots which leave no one indifferent.
All of them remind us that there's only one Andalucía, that all these beautiful
places and landscapes make up a region which, for its variety of leisure,
cultural and artistic attractions is unique.
MARTOS OLIVE FAIR
The province of Jaén is, without doubt, the largest producer of olive oil in
all the world. And one of it's towns, Martos, is where the third edition of
the Olive Fair is being held until April 21. An event which unites exhibitors
related with the industry, and people of recognised prestige in olive oil, the
development of olive growing workshops, tasting and technique seminars.
In fact the Mesa del Aceite met a few days ago in Jaén and brought together
producers, industrialists and packers from the sector, with the objective of
promoting the product worldwide.
In Jaén province alone, more than 600,000 tons of olive oil has been produced
this season, important figures for the year. To increase the sales of Spanish

PICASSO MUSEUM LOGO
A colour logo created for the occasion, a mixture of orange and grey inspired
in those used by the artist in some of his works, will from now represent the
future Picasso Museum in Málaga which is planned to open in October next year.
The logo was unveiled by the Andalucian councillor for culture, Carmen Calvo
who visited the museum site, together with the President of the Junta, Manuel
Chaves, and family members Christine and Bernard Picasso who have donated or
lent the pieces which will be on show in the Buenavista Palace.
All the documents of the Picasso Museum and its future webpage will carry the
logo which has been designed by Michael Rock, who will also be responsible for
the design of the catalogue and a book on the history and architecture of the
Buenavista Palace which is to hold the museum.
On the same day Manuel Chaves presented the Pablo Ruiz Picasso and Patrocinio y
Mecenazgo prizes to the Jaén sculptor Ignacio Criado and the Monuments of the
World foundation.
HOTEL OCCUPANCY 2002
Andalucía has welcomed, as it does every year, a large number of visitors over
Easter, registering a high percentage of hotel occupancy.
The Sierra Nevada ski station, the nature parks of Jaén and the province of
Huelva, are some of the places close to full occupancy over the Easter break.
In Jaén one of the favourite destinations of visitors are the four nature parks
in the province.
According to the businessmen, the good results obtained over Easter bode even
better for the summer.
Also as seen each year, the Sierra Nevada has been one of the most popular
destinations of both Spaniards and foreigners for their Easter holidays.
APRIL FAIR 2002
The city of Seville is currently enjoying its happiest week of the year. The
April Fair will fill the city next to the Guadalquivir with partying, flamenco
dresses and horses until the 21st.
A fiesta which attracts thousands of Spanish and foreign visitors in search of
a few days of fun who enjoy the joy and beauty of this Andalucian city.
A week when we must try the good fino wine, dance the Sevillanas and try the
good cuisine of the zone.
More than 20,000 parking spaces have been made available for the fair to help
traffic flow. In addition priority routes have set up from the city centre.
More than 1000 casetas or marquees await us in a fair which has its origins in
a cattle market held in 1847 when dealing was closed in tents which in time
have become the current casetas.
The dresses in stripes and spots, the flowers and the horse carriages await us
in Seville. Until April 21 fun is assured there during days full of tastes and
emotions.

HUELVA HISTORICAL HERITAGE DOLMENS
The collection of dolmens in the Huelva sierra will form part of the Andalucian
Historical Heritage, after the regional culture council has started their
inscription procedure.
A total of 28 dolmens are included in the collection, thirteen of them located
in the municipality of Aroche. The rest are found in the villages of
Corteconcepción, Cortegana, Puerto Moral, Rosal de la Frontera and Santa Ana la
Real.
Under this plan the dolmens will be identified as elements part of the
Andalucian Historical Heritage. Their owners, legal representatives or simple
guardians are obliged to conserve them, maintain them and protect them in a way
which guarantees their value.
In addition, they must allow the inspection of these burial monuments by the
bodies of the Junta de Andalucía and the study by interested researchers.
