ALMUÑECAR HEALTH FARM COMPLEX
Residents and visitors to Almuñecar, on the Granada province coast, are going to enjoy a new 4 star health farm and nature hotel complex which is going to be built in the town centre. The building, promoted by the Complejo Residencial Salud y Natura company, will have 200 totally equipped suites. The services and complementary installations will include in addition entertainment and activity programmes, as well as a sauna and hydro and talasotherapy treatments. The construction of this hotel complex, which will occupy about 13,000 square metres means an investment of some 3,000 million pesetas for Almuñecar and La Herradura. The project also means the creation of a new quality tourist attraction for the area, in addition to the current attractions of Almuñecar.

NATIONAL CASTLE DAY
Coinciding with the National Castle Day, which this year was commemorated in Barcelona, the 5th edition of the 'Kingdom of Jaén, Land of Castles' Historic Studies days were held. This province is considered as the European territory with the largest numbers of castles, forts and lookouts, only beaten by the area of the holy land. The importance which the presence and legacy of these castles has in Jaén has led the provincial government and the Friends of the Castles Association to work in the setting up of a Route of Castles and Battles, basing it round the sites of Baecula, Navas de Tolosa and Bailén.

GRANADA - THE SYMBOLIST VISION
This exhibition contains 7 Granada paintings from artist Rusiñol, together with items from his stays in the city, letters to his friends, such as Manuel de Falla, Ángel Barrios or Ángel Ganivet, about Granada, and prints of some of the landscapes painted by him. Among the works on show, all of them from private collections, feature 'La Granadina', 'Escalera del Agua', 'Vista de Granada desde el Generalife' and 'El Jardin del Palacio de Víznar'. Rusiñol, who is considered to be one of the most significant painters of Spanish Modern Art, visited Granada for the first time in 1887, and in each one of his stays he preserved what he saw in beautiful paintings of a city which charmed him from the first moment.

MÁLAGA URBAN GUIDE
This new guide is more than a street plan. It has 100 pages and its format is much larger than an earlier edition from 1993. Too big for a pocket, it does however contain much more detailed information on the public services such as transport, tourist attractions and the culture of the city of Málaga. What's more the new guide has no advertising. The city council has published 10,000 copies and is now negotiating their sale in the newsagents kiosks. Here the price will be around 1,000 pesetas, but it will be available from municipal offices for a lower price.

THE GOLD MEDAL OF HUELVA
The Almonte Casa de la Cultura was the scenario chosen this year by the Huelva provincial council for the celebration of the Day of the Province, an act in which the Huelva corporation recognised, with the awarding of the Gold Medal, the high environmental value of the Doñana Nature Park and Odiel Natural Marsh Landscape - two natural spaces which have also been recognised by UNESCO as Biosphere reserves. The environmental councillor, as vice president of the Patronato management organisation of the Doñana nature park, has repeated demands that for Andalucía she have the exclusive budgetary control of the area, which is currently jointly managed by the central and Andalucian governments.

HOTEL PRICES
The uncertainty generated in the tourist industry by the international crisis has led to tour operators calling for joint promotion campaigns and lower prices to stimulate bookings. Meanwhile, hotel owners say that they offer nothing in exchange and do not even guarantee a minimum booking level. For it's part the Tourism councillor, José Hurtado, said some days ago that hotel prices on the Costa del Sol should not be reduced as he considered that such a reduction would not be seen by the tourist himself, but instead in the profits on the tour operators. For Hurtado, this reduction would also threaten the quality of the services offered by the Costa del Sol hoteliers. What is certain is that the name of Andalucía seems to be well consolidated in international markets and this has allowed companies to remain firm in the face of the pressures from the large tour operators wanting lower prices.

FROM GRANADA.... TO HEAVEN
This event, carried out as part of the programme to celebrate European Youth Day, envisages the following of four nighttime routes - The Route of the Tales and Legends of the Albaycin - Walking Through the Magic Hill with Federico - The Route of the tales of Washington Irving - and the Route of Arab Granada. Each one of these is directed by official tourist guides and will be carried out between 8 and 10 pm on the night of Friday November 30th. The routes have been selected to discover an aspect of Granada - So the Route of the Albaycín will follow the narrow streets of this area and, in the case of the Federico García Lorca route, the youngsters will pass through the places related to the poet from Fuente Vaqueros. All the routes will end with end with the climbing into a hot air balloon from where the night time view over the city will be able to be seen.
