MOGUER CASTLE
The locality of Moguer in Huelva province has recovered it’s castle, a building
which dates from the 16th century and which had been left abandoned.
It’s opening to the public now also means that a new cultural area and tourism
office come into service in the Patio de Armas and in the wine cellar of this
historic place.
Moguer Castle, around which the town itself was founded, reopened its with a
performance of ‘Lastres de Cómicos’ from the Al Suroeste theatre company who
reenact theatre from the Golden century.
The restoration work has been carried out in two phases. The first was the
recovery of the land itself and the carrying out of an archaeological survey,
and the second was the restoration of the wine cellar and the beautifying of
the Patio de Armas.

ARAB MILLS TOURIST ROUTE
A new tourist route lets us discover the rich Arab legacy in Andalucía. It’s
a route through the mills and water courses which have been restored in the
province of Granada.
One of them is found in the village of Acequias de Lecrín, above the Torrente
river, in a landscape made up with the placing of three mills linked by a water
course.
The type of water mill used by the Muslims was the horizontal one, made up of a
horizontal driving wheel with blades.
Grain and olive mills are already commonplace in documents dating from the 16th
century.
In Mondújar they are rebuilding an olive mill and intend to preserve the
remains of some others.
Arab mills which made the use of the Roman water courses and which fed hot
springs continued in use until the 60's.
Now some of these are coming back to life, giving us the chance to enjoy them
once again.
