Columbus had two captains of Muslim origin during his first transatlantic voyage: Martin and his brother Vicente Pinzon were related to Moroccan Sultan Abuzayan Muhammad III (1362 - 66 CE) of the Marinid dynasty (1196 - 1465 CE).
