Queen Sofia sends her apologies for Terra Natura inauguration

The Murcia Wildlife Park officially opens this Thursday

The Queen of Spain, Doña Sofía, has sent her apologies to the authorities in Murcia for being unable to attend the inauguration of the Terra Natura Wildlife Park, which takes place this Thursday. The Queen is honorary patron of the park and is said to have promised that she, or another member of the Royal Family, will visit it in the future.

The park is built in Espinardo on the site of a former zoo, and covers a total area of 13 hectares More than 400 animals native to Spain and Africa will inhabit it. Two of them will be the bear cubs Pencho and Luna, whose names were chosen in a competition by the children of Murcia. The cubs’ parents, Yaqui and Nuca, lived in the former Espinardo Zoo.
