Chris Stewart is standing to become a green councillor in the Granada town of Órgiva

Ex Genesis drummer and writer best known for his book ‘Driving Over Lemons’ about his life in the Granada region of the Alpujarra, Chris Stewart, has announced he is standing as a candidate for the Green party in the nearby town of Órgiva in the May local elections.

His books on local life are thought to have been partially responsible to a huge increase in the number of Britons moving to the rural area, south of the Sierra Nevada.

The first book has recently been published in Spanish and is currently in the top twenty best-sellers.

The local Green party, Los Verdes, candidate list is headed by the ecologist Juanjo Castillo and includes half a dozen names of local residents from different EU countries.
