Search for immigrants off Almeria coast called off

22 immigrants are thought to have lost their lives
The Coastguard has now called off the search for 22 immigrants who have disappeared in waters off the Almería coastline. The search was called off at 6,30pm last night. It’s thought the 22 fell into the water in the early hours of the Saturday as they tried to reach Spain on a small boat.
Two coastguard vessels had spent the weekend searching, but any chance of survival is now considered to have ended. On Saturday a group of 36 men and woman were rescued by the Spanish authorities.
