Three passengers have been found dead on a boat bound for the Canaries

It was intercepted in the north of Senegal on Monday after five days at sea

Another immigrant boat has been intercepted by the local gendarmerie in Senegal as it was en route for the Canary Islands.

The APS Press Agency reported that a vessel with five people on board was intercepted off Lompoul, in the north of the country, on Monday. Three of the passengers were found to be dead, and the two survivors needed medical assistance.

The boat was reported to have set off from Kayar, 60 kms to the south of Dakar, last Wednesday.

The 90 passengers and nine crew members of another boat which planned to set off from Senegal to the Canary Islands were arrested on Saturday.
