National Court lawyers claim the AVT is prejudicing the fight agaist terrorism

Three of the lawyers representing private prosecutions being heard as part of the Madrid Train Bombings case in the National Court in Madrid, have accused the AVT, the right-wing Association of Terrorism Victims, of prejudicing the fight against terrorism.
The lawyers, José María Fuster, Manuel Murillo and José Gabriel Antón say the AVT and it’s President, José Alcaraz, who continue to support the conspiracy theory of ETA involvement, are seriously damaging the fight against terrorism by their arguments which will benefit the Islamists accused in the case.
Another lawyer, Guillermo Pérez Ajate, has suggested that the Police Chief at the time of the explosions in 2004, Agustín Díaz de Mera, be charged with diverting attention in the case towards ETA. The policeman was found in contempt of court in the case when he refused to identify who told him about an alleged report linking ETA to the massacre.
