Domestic violence suspect kills himself in police custody

A 27 year old man has died in hospital after he was found hanging by the neck in police cells in Huércal Overa.
He was arrested on Sunday for an alleged domestic violence office.
EFE names him as A.G.V., and says he was still alive when he was found at 8am on Monday, when officers arrived to escort him to his court appearance. It appears that he used the bed sheets to hang himself from the bars of the window.
He was admitted to hospital in a critical condition and died shortly afterwards.
The Huércal Overa Instruction Court No. 1 is in charge of the investigation.
