The arms were found on a ship which had left from Israel

The Civil Guard found a boat which docked in Algeciras yesterday to be carrying a cargo of more than 400 firearms.

The ‘Maersk Detroit’ had arrived from Haifa in Israel, and was on its way to Nicaragua.

There were rifles, shotguns and pistols among the cargo, which was discovered thanks to a new scanner paid for by the United States which is now checking all cargo which could pass through an United States port.

The Guardia Civil is investigating the origin of the arms, and thinks the ship was planning to unload the cargo at some destination after Algeciras.
