email this articleThe animal was found to be suffering from malnutritonA lion and several snakes have been rescued from a ‘finca’ in the Málaga province town of Pizarra.
The Civil Guard were alerted to the case by a neighbour, and found the lion showing signs of malnutrition and a lack of hygiene.
The say the owners of the property did not have permission for the animals, and an investigation is now underway to establish whether the owners were trading in exotic fauna.
Once recovered the lion will be sent to a Spanish zoo.
