Cayuco reaches Tenerife with one dead passenger

56 people survived the journey, arriving in Granadilla de Abona on Tuesday

The Canary Islands newspaper, La Opinión de Tenerife, reports that an immigrant cayuco reached shore on El Médano Beach, in Granadilla de Abona, Tenerife, on Tuesday morning with one dead passenger.

There were another 56 people on board the boat, all from Sub Saharan Africa. Four were believed to be juveniles.
Most were said to be healthy, apart from one passenger who was treated for injuries in the health centre in El Mojón.

Two other immigrant boats reached Tenerife on Monday, carrying a total 202 passengers.

Another two boats arrived in Almería province late on Monday, with eight passengers from Algeria and another four from Tunisia.
