It's feared that as many as fifty may have drowned when a Cayuco boat overturned

The bodies of just three men have been recovered from the area where a Cayuco boat overturned when carrying around 100 African immigrants trying to reach the Canary Islands.

It happened in high seas 90 miles to the south of Tenerife, and rescue services managed to rescue 48 people who are all said to be in good health.

It’s thought that at least another forty to fifty people were travelling on the boat.

The departure point of the boat is still unknown.
