They claim the 'Tren del Sur' will cost them two million € a year

Farmers in San Miguel and Arona on Tenerife are angry at plans to divert the tracks of the Tren del Sur across their land.

The Cabildo government wants a new stretch of track to run between Los Erales and La Montaña de Guaza, but the farmers say they will lose two million € a year in income as a result.

The land chosen is currently planted with bananas, pineapples and oranges. The farmers have taken legal advice on how best to continue their protest.
