It happened near the Fuentemilanos airfield, close to the provincial capital.
EFE reports that the plane took off from Morgal, in Asturias, at 10 on Monday morning, stopping in Villarmarco, León, before setting off again for its destination in Segovia.
The crash came just 800 metres away from the landing field as the aircraft was coming in to land, killing the two people on board. They’ve been named as A.S.G. from Felguera and J.H.R. from Arriondas, both in Asturias.
The pilot of another light aircraft was injured in a similar accident in La Rioja on Wednesday morning, 50 kilometres outside Logroño, near the San Torcuato airfield. Firemen were called in to free him from the aircraft.
The only information on his identity is that he lives in Vitoria and is now in hospital in the Basque Country. He’s said to have suffered a broken leg.
