email this articleThe fire in a transformer was extinguished in an hour and safety measures worked correctlyThe Nuclear power station at Cofrentes, Valencia, suffered a transformer fire on Thursday, which lead to the reactor being shut down.
The Nuclear Safety Council (CSN) said the fire broke out just before noon and had been extinguished an hour later.
The say all safety systems worked correctly and there were no effects either for workers or the environment.
