Over 6,000 landings at Málaga Airport this month

Hotel occupancy on the Costa del Sol is over 90 percent this month

50,000 travellers used Málaga airport on Wednesday August 1 this year, with a total of 339 take offs and landings.

The Spanish Airports Authority, AENA, said that despite the high traffic and ongoing expansion works, no delays were seen.

The Costa del Sol Tourist Board says that 6.039 planes will touch down in Málaga this month, nearly half of them international flights, and of them 74% from new low-cost operators.

The number of overnight stays by tourists in Andalucia this year is forecast to be up 4.5% on last year, with Almería the only province were a fall is expected.

Average hotel occupancy in Andalucia is 73% although on the Costa del Sol, and along the Cádiz and Huelva coast the numbers are over 90%.
