Colombian Héctor Fabio Franco Giraldo declared to the judge on Friday before being imprisoned on remand
The Colombian man who has been arrested in connection with the murder of the 15 year old Chilean girl, Fernanda Fabiola, on Tenerife, has been named as 28 year old Héctor Fabio Franco Giraldo.
After declaring to the judge for several hours he has been taken to the Tenerife II jail on remand. We now know that the attacker had been obsessed by the youngster for some time, and had followed her to a cybercafé.
He told the court that her last words were ‘Leave me in peace, or I’ll call the Guardia Civil’.
The body of the youngster was found on Thursday, a week after she disappeared and the arrested man, who has a previous record for sexual offences, finally confessed to the crime when he was told that one of her piercings had been found in his car. He has been charged with the kidnap, sexual aggression and murder of the teenager.
Local Civil Guard Chief, Miguel Martínez, said that help from local residents had been fundamental in solving the case, with the important clue coming from a blue four wheel drive vehicle spotted at the scene.
Meanwhile a second man who was arrested in connection with the crime has now been released, but charges against him remain.
The Romanian man is alleged to have known about the crime, but helped to cover it up.
