email this article More than one hundred people were evacuated from the burning apartment blockA fire which broke out on the eighth floor of a 12-floor block in Alcalá de Henares on Monday night has claimed the life of one woman and forced more than a hundred people to be evacuated from the block on Calle Río Tajuña. The Town Hall has re-housed them in a nearby hotel.
The woman who died is said to be between 30 and 40 years old: she suffered a heart attack after being transferred to the local hospital. Another woman suffered serious burns and is under treatment in the same hospital, while two children and three adults were treated for smoke inhalation.
