email this article The blaze has already affected more than 300 hectares and remains out of control this morningA forest fire broke out yesterday in La Torre de Fontaubella in Tarragona. The blaze is still out of control and has affected over 310 hectares of White Pine and scrub, according to firemen from the Generalitat.
At least 12 residents of the area have had to be evacuated, including workers at a wind farm on the LaArgentera Sierra which has been reached by the flames.
The latest information is that more than one front of the fire remains active to the east, and that 20 planes and helicopters are being used to fight the flames. There are 86 ground based squads in operation.
The regional Environment Councillor, Francesc Baltasar, said the cause of the fire was not known, and would not be established until the blaze was out.
