Two of the injured are said to be seriously hurt, but all are out of danger and being treated in the hospital at Herat

At least four Spanish soldiers have been injured in an accident in Afghanistan today. Two of the injured are thought to be seriously hurt when a BMR ambulance overturned on its side which was travelling close to the Spanish base at Qala I Naw.

A statement from the Ministry of Defence said the accident happened at 1,22 am Spanish time, and that the serious injured are a Capitan, who has a fractured hip and two ribs and a Second Lieutenant who has head injuries, but they are out of danger.

They are being treated at the Spanish military hospital in Herat, where they were taken by helicopter.
It’s thought the poor condition of the road was to blame for the accident.

The last Spanish death in Afghanistan was back in May when Juan Antonio Abril Sánchez became the 83rd Spanish victim in the country when his armed vehicle overturned.
