The Civil Guard believe he was a passenger on the immigrant which sank off Cabo de Gata on Sunday

The Civil Guard believe a man found dead in a cove in Níjar early on Monday evening was more than likely a passenger on the immigrant boat which sank just a mile off Cabo de Gata on Sunday night.

His body was discovered after an extensive search of the area involving teams from the Civil Guard and the Coastguard.

Four of the boat’s passengers were rescued by the Coastguard, and another man managed to swim to shore.
