It will supply 60,000 people in Onil, Castalla and Sax with natural gas

The Valencia government’s department for infrastructure and transport has authorised a new gas pipeline which will take natural gas to more than 60,000 people in three towns in Alicante province: Onil, Castalla and Sax.

It means they will no longer be dependent on bottled gas and is part of a regional government programme, which began in 1995, to bring piped gas to more members of the public.

The general director of the Generalitat’s energy department, Antonio Cejalvo, told Europa Press that natural gas counts for 28% of energy consumption in the Valencia Region – compared to a national figure of 20% - putting it at third place amongst Spain’s 17 autonomous communities.

No date was given in the report as to when the pipeline is expected to come on line.
