email this article The Museum is celebrating the opening of its new extension, and will be offering free entry at the end of every day in the futureThe open days at the Prado Museum in Madrid to celebrate the opening of the new wing, have resulted in long queues and record numbers of visitors.
More than 100,000 people visited the museum between last Wednesday and Sunday, according to the museum itself.
Sunday saw the longest queues, of about three hours at one time, and more than 23,000 visitors that day alone.
New pricing at the Prado will now come into effect giving free entry for the last two hours of the day during the week, and for the last three hours on a Sunday.
