Italian justice consider The Egyptian to be a terrorist

The appeals court in Italy has considered that the terrorist, Rabei Osman El Sayed, known as The Egyptian, made a phone call on March 11th 2004, the day of the Madrid Train Bombings claiming that he had thought up the attacks.
The court in Milan considered that the recording of this call was a serious indication of his implication in the group who carried out the Madrid attack.
However the Italian judge also thinks it unlikely that 'The Egyptian' was the head of the terrorist group, but merely another member of it.
The case is of interest in Spain as the man was released without charge in the National Court here, given that he was already facing the terrorism charges in Italy.
Under EU rule a person cannot be charged in different countries on the same charge twice.
