Incentives for teachers in Andalucía

A new Education Law in Andalucía comes into force in January

The Andalucia Education Authority has announced plans to pay a bonus to teachers in the region who improve school performance.

From January 1 next year the new Improvement and Quality Program comes into effect and the teachers who sign up for the plan could earn upto 7,000 € extra if, in four years time, they have met a series of objectives established between their local school managers and the Junta de Andalucía.

The teachers will also earn a smaller amount just for taking part in the plan and schools which want to take part will have to make an official application in January.

The idea is part of the new LEA, Andalucia Education Law, which also sees a wage increase for headmasters and tutors, and an additionally 3,269 teachers are to be employed across the region.
