The village of Valle de Abdalajís says that the local water table has been affected by the constuction of a double tunnel

The Málaga village of Valle de Abdalajís is to ask the railway infrastructure body ADIF for seven million € in compensation for the damage suffered during and following the construction of the nearby tunnel for the AVE high speed train line.

The village, which was famous for its water springs, has now seen its wells run dry as the tunnel construction has broken the local water table.

The local Town Hall says it needs the money to repair the water table and local roads which have also been damaged. Socialist Mayor, Alfonso García, has a meeting planned with the ADIF officials on Tuesday when he will make his demand. He wants the 20 litres per second currently leaking into one of the two tunnels to be channelled back to the village.
