2007 was an excellent year for the museums of Madrid’s ‘Paseo del Arte,’ when both the Thyssen and the Prado saw record numbers of visitors. A total of 978,064 people visited the Thyssen-Bornemisza last year, a massive increase of 33% on 2006.

The Prado saw 2,652,924 visitors, also up on the year before, by 23%.

The Reina Sofía Museum, where just last month, a new director was appointed, saw numbers increase by 11% to 1,570,390 people. It’s the second highest number in the museum’s history.
