The local Mayor and the Rector of Granada University had their first official meeting on the subject on Wednesday

The Partido Popular Mayor of Motril, Carlos Rojas, had his first official meeting on Wednesday with the recently-named Rector of Granada University, Francisco González Lodeiro, in talks to open a university campus on the coast. Ideal newspaper said the site is in Playa Granada, on 40,000 square metres of land ceded to the University by Motril Town Hall.

The Town Hall said the campus would include a students’ residence - possibly with dual use as a hotel - a department of languages, post-graduate studies, and marine research.
