Thousands raised by REM Telethon presented to Cudeca

A cheque for 72,000 € was officially handed over to the Cudeca Foundation on Monday, raised in the REM FM Telethon, the on air auction hosted by the radio station last month to raise much-needed funds for the cancer care charity.
The cheque was presented to the President and Founder of Cudeca, Joan Hunt, O.B.E., by REM’s Director, Maurice Boland, who is the Honorary Patron of Cudeca. Maurice first became involved with Cudeca in 1999, when he ran his ‘Raise the Roof’ campaign towards the cost of the hospice building’s roof. His commitment has continued ever since, and he’s organised numerous events over the years which have raised a grand total of 627,000 €. Maurice said at the presentation that further events will take place this year, ahead of the 2008 Telethon which is programmed for 12th December.
Cudeca said in a press release on Monday that the money raised by the 2007 Telethon is a great boost to the Foundation, as it goes a long way to paying the costs of the ‘special kind of care’ they give to patients in Málaga province who suffer from advanced non-curable cancer.
