An investigation is underway into marriages of convenience which have been allegedly taking place in El Palmar, Cobatillas and La Alberca in Murcia, between mostly Nigerian men and Gypsy women. There were also reports of male Pakistanis and Indians being involved.
The Prosecutors Office of the High Court of Justice in Murcia, (TSJ) has opened the investigation following a large increase in the number of marriages in the municipalities and claims that the women did not even know the names of their future husbands. Some responded to the question by saying simply ‘He’s a black man’ according to reports carried by 20 minutos.
