According to a police statement the arrested men spotted the youngster at Málaga bus station, and that he told them that he had just arrived by hiding on the axle of a lorry from Melilla.
The men told the boy that they would contact his parents in Morocco to say he had arrived safely, and the youngster, not suspecting that he was being kidnapped, left with them. In fact when the phone call was made it was to demand money for the boy’s release.
The parents put the matter in the hands of a friend who arranged to carry out the exchange in Úbeda under the eyes of the police who arrested the kidnappers. The victim is now being cared for by the social services.
