email this article The work of Jason Martin is on show at the Contemporary Arts Centre until AprilJason Martin, one of Britain’s young and up and coming artists has opened a selection of his work at the CAC Contemporary Arts Centre in Málaga.
Born in the Channel Islands in 1970, Martin now lives and works in London and became known first at the famous ‘Sensation’ exhibition in 1997 where his work was alongside the Chapman brothers, Damien Hurst and Sarah Lucas.
The Málaga show is called Nomad and shows a selection of different coloured oils painted on aluminium, to give an effect of contours and reflected light as you move around the gallery. Jason acknowledges the influence of German painter Casper David Friedrich, who was one of the first to explore the link between light and texture.
The show continues at the CAC until April 6 2008. It is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 8pm and admission is free.
