The building has been leaking for years and the new roof will hopefully solve the problem in a year

Work has been progressing well to solve the long-term problem of the leaking roof of Málaga Cathedral. The building, known by the locals as La Manquita because of the lack of its second tower, is to have a new glass roof placed over the existing one, and work is already half done with a completion date of a year’s time.

The project is jointly funded by the Junta de Andalucía and Málaga City Hall. Under the new glass the shape of the 22 domes in the roof area will be maintained.
