email this articleBalearia hopes to start the service this June, to run throughout the yearThe ferry company, Balearia, has confirmed that a new ferry service between Motril and Melilla will start this summer. The company carried out docking tests in both cities at the beginning of February, and have now confirmed to the government in Melilla that the service will operate throughout the year, with an additional fast boat brought in to cover the increased demand during the high season.
The Partido Popular President of the Melilla government, Juan José Imbroda, announced the news in a press conference on Wednesday, who, as Europa Press reports, described it as the ‘best news’ of the legislature. He was personally informed of Balearia’s decision in a letter from the company’s president, Adolfo Utor, and said he understood that the new line would be operational from this June.
