email this article The Civil Guard had to evacuate a family from the village of Mirandilla in Extremadura after 200 local launched an attackA rural Spanish village has tried to lynch an aggressive local family, forcing the Civil Guard to intervene and evacuate the family concerned. It happened in the village of Mirandilla, in Mérida, Extremadura on Sunday when some 200 local residents gathered with sticks outside the family’s home. At this one of the family came out into the street firing a shotgun.
The village has a population of some 1,400. Locals say the family had terrorised them and that they had reached their limit.
It came to a head on Saturday night when a 20 year old man from the family concerned started insulting and throwing stones at one of the locals. This came after a 60 year old woman was attacked and dragged through the street.
Three people were injured by the shotgun shot and in the clashes as more than 50 civil guards were drafted in to evacuate the family after the locals destroyed the family's cars parked in the street.
