The victim was his own son, who underwent emergency surgery and is now out of ICU

The retired police officer, 60 year old E.A.R., who was arrested on Saturday after confessing to stabbing his son outside their home in Salobreña has been remanded to custody without bail. Europa Press said the charges are attempted murder.

The 23 year old son suffered two stab wounds to the chest and others in the stomach and ribs in the assault on Avenida Perón. He underwent emergency surgery and is now said by doctors at the Santa Ana district hospital in Motril to be progressing well. He has been moved to the wards from Intensive Care.

Ideal newspaper reported this weekend that the stabbing in the early hours of Saturday happened during an argument which arose after the son arrived home late. His father turned himself in to the National Police station in Motril immediately afterwards and confessed to the crime.
