The woman had been raped before she was killed

Police are trying to identify a woman whose burnt and beaten body was found on a farm in La Palma, Cartagena, on Saturday, badly disfigured and with signs that her throat had been cut. She was found by the owner of the land at 7am on Saturday, near an abandoned ruin, a short distance away from a dirt track.

La Verdad newspaper said her face was battered, all five fingers on her right hand had been cut off to prevent identification, and she had been raped before she was killed.

The paper said there are concerns that the body may be that of a 29 year old woman who was reported missing from Torre Pacheco on Saturday morning, and also reports that the missing woman’s husband has been shown a ring the dead woman was wearing to determine if it belonged to his wife.
