The two women were out in a club together on the night she was last seen

The woman whose burnt and mutilated body was found on a farm in La Palma, Cartagena, on Saturday has been named by the Murcia press as María Ángeles Moreno Sánchez, a woman who was reported missing from Torre Pacheco that same morning. DNA testing has yet to confirm her identity, but it’s understood that a ring the dead woman was wearing has been identified as his wife’s by the missing woman’s husband. She was raped and beaten before she was killed with a cut to the throat, and five fingers were cut off to prevent identification.

La Verdad newspaper reports that María Ángeles previously lived in La Palma and returned to her mother’s house in Torre Pacheco after separating from her husband some time ago. The paper said a Moroccan man she is believed to have been seeing has been ruled out as a suspect after giving a voluntary statement to the Civil Guard.

Officers are now looking for a female friend María Angeles was out with in a club on the night she was last seen.
