Meetings with the other political groups in congress are expected to continue for the rest of this week

The PSOE Socialist party is continuing to search for support for the investiture of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero as Prime Minister, and for José Bono to be elected as the Speaker, the President of Congress.

After holding meetings yesterday with the Catalan party, CiU, and the Basque Nationalist Party, PNV, today José Bono will start to talk to the rest of the opposition parties.

Obtaining support for Zapatero is, according to reports and some comments from the opposition, being complicated by having José Bono as the speaker, although José Blanco described the meetings held already with the CiU and the PNV as ‘very positive’. He indicated that the conversations with all the political groups are likely to continue for the rest of the week.

The CiU have said they will announce if they will support Bono on Monday next week.
