Building halted as 300 skeletons are found in Caravaca de la Cruz

The construction of some homes in Caravaca de la Cruz in Murcia will have to wait as some 300 skeletons from the Copper age have been unearthed at the site. That makes the bones found some 5,000 years old, and it is thought by archaeologists that they are of the founders of the city.
The bones were found in a fossilised cavity some eight metres across and almost two metres deep, and Arqueoweb considers that the find may that with the most bodies ever found on the Iberian Peninsular.
The skeletons of dogs and ceramic items have also been found at the site. DNA testing is being carried out to see if the bodies were related in any way.
