email this article The race was won by Felipe Massa for FerrariThe man the rumour mongers say whose job is on the line at Ferrari, Felipe Massa, proved his critics wrong by winning the Bahrain Grand Prix. Massa overtook Robert Kubica who had won the pole at the start, with Kubica finishing third for BMW.
Spain’s Fernando Alonso could do no better than tenth, his worst result of the season in what is looking more and more like a mediocre season for Renault.
Lewis Hamilton ran into the back of Alonso at one point and needed to visit boxes. The collision took away the Briton’s chances of a podium place.
After the race Alonso said the collision happened as the McLaren was going faster than he was. Alonso said we started tenth and finished tenth. ‘I had a back flap partially broken but the car did not perform as badly as during practice. Nobody likes taking part in a 58 lap race in tenth of eleventh’, he said.
