Juan del Olmo was the instruction judge in the Madrid Train Bombing case

National Court Judge, Juan del Olmo, who was at the receiving end of a harsh media attack from the right wing as he was assembling the instruction stage of the March 11 Madrid Train Bombings case, is to leave the National Court and take up a new place in the penal provincial court in Murcia. The appointment is expected to be officially confirmed next Tuesday but sources from the General Council for Judicial Power have confirmed it to the press.

Judge del Olmo has been known to have wanted to change positions for some time, and applied to be moved in October last year as the sentence in the Madrid bombing case was being announced. He has spent the last few months in Paris on a project comparing the French and Spanish justice systems.
