The 25 year old was one of three armed robbers who were involved in the shoot out in the village of Cijuela

Police shot dead a 25 year old robber, named with the initials J.L.M.B. in the Granada village of Cijuela in the early hours of Saturday. The dead man was carrying a sawn-off shotgun and had taken part in a shoot out with police in an underground car park in the village which is on the outskirts of Granada city.

Another of the robbers was arrested at the scene, and a third managed to make his escape. Police say they think the thieves formed part of an organised criminal group which had been involved in several violent robberies from local industrial parks and petrol stations.

More arrests in the case have not been ruled out.
