The fans are upset at two years without any silverware for the Catalan side.

Barcelona fans unhappy at the side’s defeat on Tuesday night in Old Trafford in the Champions League, which means no silverware for the side for the second consecutive year, have voiced their anger on the club’s Chairman, Joan Laporta.

Banners calling for his resignation could be seen in Old Trafford – ‘Barça si, Laporta no’, read one and similar chants calling for his resignation were heard from the 4,000 or so fans who had travelled to Manchester.

Many people consider that a ‘change of cycle’ is needed at the club, with some of the players coming in for more criticism in many cases than the manager Frank Rijkaard. He has already announced his intention to stay on at the club, despite the two poor years and press reports saying his era is over that Pep Guardiola is the front runner candidate to replace him.
