More than 14 tons of hashish recovered in Cádiz province last month

33 people have been arrested over the month and cars, boats and a lorry impounded.

More than 14 tons of hashish has been recovered by the authorities in Cádiz in the last month. The GRECO Special Response Groups to Organised Crime, of the National Police arrested 33 people and impounded three vehicles as part of the operations, together with a large lorry and eight boats.

The drug, from North Africa, was brought into Spain via the south of the mainland with the police monitoring the coast of not only Cádiz and Huevla, but also parts of Portugal in collaboration with the Portuguese authorities.

Police have also observed a slight increase in the number of light planes being used to bring some 500 kilos of the drug over per trip.

The latest GRECO operation in Cádiz resulted in 1,800 kilos of hashish being found in an inflatable boat in the mouth of the Guadlaquivir River, by the Doñana Nature Park.
