Frank Rijkaard has another year contract at the club, but is expected to go at the end of the season.

Reports in the Spanish press today, including the TV3 Catalan television channel and Radio Marca, say that the Chairman of Barcelona Football Club, Joan Laporta, has already decided to replace Frank Rijkaard as manager of the team, and appoint Pep Guardiola as his replacement.

An announcement could be made a day after the end of the season, on May 19, and it seems that the Barcelona board are in agreement, given the lack of any silverware for the side for the past two seasons.

Pep Guardiola is now 36 and only has the experience of training the Barça B team which is in the third division. He is well loved in the city as a member of the famous ‘dream team Barcelona’ put together by Cruyff.
