Some observers consider the Spanish Monarch was indiscreet with his praise of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero in Sunday's El Mundo newspaper.

Spanish Interior Minister, Alfredo Pérez-Rubalcaba, has played down comments made by King Juan Carlos in an interview in the El Mundo newspaper on Sunday. Rubalcaba said the King merely dropped his guard and said what he thought about the Prime Minister, but some observers consider that the King should have been more discreet.

King Juan Carlos said that he considered José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero to be ‘a very honest man, very upright and always to the point’.
